Oliver, who lives in Chorley, is currently in the second year of his T Level qualification in Design Engineering at Runshaw College.
The course schedule involves 80% classroom study and 20% working in industry and will see Oliver spend around 45 days on placement with us.
Gary Wynne, managing director, comments: “We’re delighted to have Oliver with us. This is our first placement scheme with Runshaw College who identified us as a local employer that could provide Oliver with a holistic view of the production line.
“It’s important to us as a business to embrace new talent and get the younger generation interested in a career in design and manufacturing, which is why we were excited when we got the call from the college. It’s a partnership we’ll be looking to continue and grow over the coming years.”
The relatively new placement programme, aimed at 16 to 19-year-olds, provides students like Oliver with a broad knowledge of their chosen industry, as well as skills and behaviours necessary for employment.
T Levels are the equivalent of three A levels and provide students with a pathway to skilled employment, higher or degree-level apprenticeships and higher education.
Once Inscape confirmed its involvement with the programme, Oliver’s assigned tutor visited with the team to discuss his day-to-day activities and set learning goals that he will be working towards.
Oliver’s time at Inscape will be spent on the production line, where he will learn about individual design elements and gain a deeper understanding of the design and engineering process.
He will move around all areas of the business to get insight into the different service offerings, like space planning, installation and producing CAD & 3D visualisations.
Throughout the placement, Oliver will be visited on three occasions by his tutor to check in on his progress and complete assessments to ensure he is achieving his learning goals, with feedback from Inscape also considered.
The course will conclude with two exams which cover all of the core content and leading into an employer set project which supports all of the learning which has taken place at Inscape.
