The project focused on transforming one of the university’s most historically significant building into a modern, sustainable Net Zero in operation facility, while carefully preserving its historic character and architectural heritage.
It now provides state-of-the-art accommodation for the International Study Centre, Graduate School, and modern university workspaces.
Henry Boot Construction appointed Inscape based on previous successful collaborations and confidence in our ability to deliver robust washroom solutions suited to complex refurbishment environments.
Given the age and nature of the building, the project required a highly collaborative and detail-focused approach from the outset.
At the initial engagement stage, we worked closely with GSS Architecture to review the building layout, evaluate the proposed washroom arrangements, and provide guidance on best-practice setting out, accessibility, and compliance with modern building regulations.
One of the key challenges was accommodating the significant dimensional variations present across the building, due to its historic construction and multiple room reconfigurations over time.
Each washroom required bespoke consideration to ensure accurate coordination within the existing structure while maintaining functionality, accessibility, and visual consistency.
Through close collaboration with the contractor and architects, we were able to identify potential installation challenges early in the process, offering practical solutions and technical advice before works commenced on site.
We manufactured and installed:
